At a time when Bangla cinema is constantly under fire for substandard scripts, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Moviyana Film Society are co-organizing a five-day long “Screenwriting Training and Project Planning Workshop” to train upcoming screenwriters. One of the focus areas of this workshop will be: how to secure domestic and international film grants.
The workshop will begin on June 1 and will conclude on June 10. For young and new filmmakers, it is expected to be a very valuable learning experience. Several celebrated filmmakers and writers will share their knowledge and expertise during these day long sessions.
The topics to be covered in this workshop will include the language of films, the process of coming up with subject matter for films, elementary steps for screenwriting, writing practice, and project planning for making full length feature films with grants from the Bangladesh government and various international donors.
The workshop training will be done by Mr, Nasir Uddin Yousuf (film-maker and cultural enthusiast), Masum Reza (playwright), Nurul Alam Atik (film-maker), Amitabh Reza (film-maker), Shabnam Ferdousi (film-maker), Proshoon Rahman (film-maker), Wahid Tarek (film-maker), Abid Mallick (film-maker), and Sadia Khalid (screenwriter).
