Half Stop Down Ltd, is a film production company of Bangladesh working with a strong commitment to global cinema. The company thrives on the art of storytelling using powerful visuals and rich cinematic language. One of the most talented and renowned advertisement film-maker of Bangladesh, Amitabh Reza is the mastermind behind this admirable venture. The advertisements he has made under the Half Stop Down label have garnered accolades from critics and audiences alike. These successes have helped Half Stop Down to earn a favorable reputation among its business clients as well.

Director (2001-Till)

Amitabh Reza is one of the pioneers who changed the face of Bangladeshi TV commercials, he considers himself a “fiction (TV plays, films) director”.

TVCs directed by Reza for Grameenphone, Banglalink, Citycell, Labaid and more have gone on become hugely popular. The Banglalink commercial with the catch phrase “Oi din ki aar asey” was nominated for the Global Mobile Award 2007 in ‘Making Difference in People’s Life’ category.

Screen play writer (2001-Till)

Amitabh Reza write several screen play from beginning of his career. He received Best Screenplay Award for Drama “Sei bhoboney” in the year 2008.

Through production company Half Stop Down, Amitabh Reza produces many project which are appreciates by both critics and mass audiences.  

Awards:

National Film Award: 

The National Film Awards is an annual awards ceremony held annually in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is considered to be the most prominent film award ceremony in Bangladesh. The National Film Awards were established in 1975 by the government of Bangladesh. Every year, a national panel appointed by the government selects the winning entries. The juries are appointed by the Bangladesh Film Censor Board, a department under the Ministry of Information of the government of Bangladesh.

Amitabh Reza Chowdhury received National Film Award-2016 as Best Director Award for his Film “Aynabaji”.

Maril Prothom Alo Award: 

Meril Prothom Alo Awards or Prothom Alo Awards is an annual Bangladeshi awards ceremony honouring cinematic achievements in Bangladeshi Film Industry.The awards, first presented in 1998 and since then the awards are given every year at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC). The awards ceremony was organised and held by Bangladesh’s largest newspaper Daily Prothom Alo and Square Toiletries Limited. The awards include nominations in more than 30 categories and 2 honorary awards. Meril Prothom Alo Awards is Bangladesh’s equivalent to America’s Academy Awards.

Amitabh Reza Chowdhury received Maril Prothom Alo award for 4 (Four) times. 

• In the year 2008, Best Screenplay Award for Drama “Sei bhoboney”.
• In the year 2008, Best Director Award for TV fiction “Ekti Phone Kora Jabe Please?”
• In the year 2014, Best Director Award for Drama “Surface”
• In the year 2016, Best Film Director Award for Film “Aynabaji”.

Amitabh Reza Chowdhury’s last Film “Aynabaji” was acknowledged as the Best Film at 11th Seattle South Asian Film Festival (SSAFF).
